Radhia Nasraoui is a Tunisian Human Rights lawyer and chairperson of the Association de lutte contre la torture en Tunisie, ALTT (Association against torture in Tunisia). She has acted militantly since 2003 against the torture in the the country. She is the wife of the leader of the banned Tunisian Communist worker's party (PCOT), Hamma Hammami who has spent the few years living as a clandestine.
Her activities over the last thirty years in favour of human rights have drawn the attention of the authorities who have sort to do all they can do to get her to renounce her ideas.
Just after qualifying in the 1970's she took her first steps in getting involved in human rights. Bourguiba, the then President had forbidden student and worker's protests. In 1976 she convinced the lawyer's office where she was working as a trainee to defend student's who were put on trial for protests.Two year's later, the January 1978 general strike resulted in a bllodbath and she quickly started her own legal practice.
