Fatima Zahra Mansouri (b. in 1976), was trained as a lawyer. She was elected to become Mayor of the town of Marrakech in Morocco on 23 June 2009. Prior to that she had been municipal counsellor in the Aunthenticity and Modern Party (PAM).
The election of a female mayor for the town is a first for Marrakech.
Fatima Mansouri is the second women as mayor in the history of Morocco, after Asmaa Chaâbi who presided over the town of Essaouira from 2003 until 2009. Descendant of a large family from the city of Ocre, Fatima Zahra Mansouri is the daughter of the of the old Pacha (the deputy prefect) of Marrakech, Abderrahman Mansouri.
