Biography :

Moustapha Alassane.Film Director from Niger .Born in 1942.

Moustapha Alassane is a pioneer of African animation.He  was born in1942 in N'Dougou, Niger and studied the techniques of cinematography with Jean Rouch before learning about animation from Norman McLaren. Whether animation, fiction, or documentary, his films are often moral or social chronicles that take a swipe at his country. His first short film, Aouré (Wedding)- rewarded in 1962 - explores the nuptial traditions of a Nigerien village, and in 1965 he made the first African animated film La Mort de Gandji. A feature film followed in 1972, FVVA : femme, voiture, villa, argent, denouncing the go-getting attitude and thirst for power of the African nouveau riche. Moustapha Alassane has been Director of the film department of Niamey University for the past fifteen years and is considered the doyen of African animation.
