Biography :

Florence Ayisi (b. in 1964), is a Cameroonian director and documentarist.

She grew up in Kumba, obtained a Bachelor's Degree in English in Cameroon before moving to the U.K. where she pursued a Master's Degree in Producing and Directing at the Northern School of Film and Television (NSFTV) in Leeds and an MA in Theatre and Media Production at the University of Hull. She is senior lecturer in Film and Video at the International Film School Wales, University of Wales, Newport.

She directed (together with Kim Longinotto) the multi-award winning documentary Film Sisters in Law.
Sisters in Law won several international awards including the Prix Art et Essai at the Cannes Festival in 2005, Best Documentary Film at the Hawaii International Film Festival, Silver Award at the Al-Jazeera TV Festival, just to name a few. Sisters in Law went on to be screened in over 120 film festivals around the world.
