Biography :Jeanne Ngo Maï,
is Cameroonian poet.
Jeanne Ngo Maï was born in 1933 i
n Poutchack near the small town of Ngambè, in Cameroon. After studying at Sackbayeme's protestant Mission and completing her study in Yaoundé in 1954,
she went to Toulouse (France) where she graduated in Pharmacy
and obtained her PhD. In 1962, she returned to Cameroon and worked in Yaoundé's hospital for a year as Chief pharmacist. In 1963, she opened her own pharmacy and ran it for the next thirty years.
Jeanne Ngo Maï keen interest for poetry goes back to her childhood and writing was an important part of her student days, though early manuscripts were burned with her father's hut in 1962 during "maquis" activities.
Jeanne Ngo Maï has been an active member of Yaoudé literary scene and many of her poems were published in "Le Cameroun littéraire"
