Behati Prinsloo born May 16, 1989 is a Namibian model. She is known for her work as spokesmodel for the Victoria's Secret sub-brand Pink.
Behati Prinsloo was 15 when she was discovered by a fashion scout while on vacation in Cape Town, South Africa in 2005. She signed with the Storm modeling agency, and before the year was out she had modeled in Paris and London and appeared in Vogue magazine in Italy. Round-faced, red-cheeked, hazel-eyed and athletic, Behati Prinsloo was young enough to pose as a lip-chewing schoolgirl and old enough to made up in the usual outlandish outfits for an appearance in Velvet magazine. She began modeling for Victoria's Secret in 2007, becoming in particular the face of the company's "Pink" line of casual clothing.
Behati avidly supports the Environmental Justice Foundation, a charity that “empowers people who suffer most from environmental abuses to find peaceful ways of preventing them”.
Before she began her career as a model, Prinsloo planned on becoming a marine biologist. She is close friends with Canadian model Coco Rocha, whose blog she is often featured in. She lives with and is in a long term relationship with fellow model Jamie Strachan.
In 2010, Behati used both her talent and her considerable personality to do good for the devastated people of Haiti, as a favour to her friend and model Coco Rocha. And now it is time for Africa to show our mettle and to reach out to those even more compromised than ourselves. Come on, just write a letter this holiday and spread the warmth and love of our continent. I quote from Coco's blog (OSoCoco)
In our years as friends Behati and I have been on many trips and adventures together all around the world. This January we will be traveling together for a very special reason. Behati and I are again teaming up with Lakay Pam to travel to Haiti with the idea of seeing what more we all can do. We’re going to spend a few days with the orphans and experience their everyday life. While there we’ll film a little documentary of what we encounter so you can see it first hand, where the aid is going and where we still need to help. I have a big favor to ask of you all though, allow me to explain: When we visit the orphanages we want to take with us letters from people around the world to show the children of Haiti that they have global friends, real people who care about them. In return we will be bringing back with us their letters to you all. Please get out your pen and paper today and write a letter for them. If you could, include your name, age and address and send it to us here: Letters To Haiti, C/O Elite Model Management, 404 Park Avenue, Floor 9, New York, NY 10016
