Maxime Zollner de Medeiros was born in Porto-Novo, the capital of Bénin on 4 October 1934. He has had a brilliant career as a diplomat and a civil servant.
Educated in Benin, he came to France in 1953 and passing through various colleges qualified at the Institute des Hauts Etudes Internationales in 1960 in International Relations, Diplomacy and International Organisation.
Career First Ambassador for Benin, Diplomate, Civil Adminastrator and Retired Ambassador. He organised the first diplomatic service for the newly independant country, he was a member of the first diplomatic mission to the United Nations, first consellor for Benin in Haiti, Brazil, Canada, the United States and the United Nations, becoming permanent representative.
His list of roles, positions and achievements with the UN is enormous. Secretary General from 1963-64 for the UAM (African and North African Union).
Secretary General at Geneva for the ISVS and where he received personalities from around the world including George Bush.
Vice President for Human Rights Commission at the UN, also VP of the UN Social and Economic council, Industrial Development. High Commissioner for the commission of refugees.
