Djibril Bodian born August 8, 1976 , is a French baker who originates from Senegal. On March 22, 2010 he won the prize awarded to the best artisan baker in Paris. Because of this he became the official supplier of bread to the Elysée Palace, the French President's official home. His father is also a baker and left Senegal in 1981 to come to France.
Djibril learnt to become a baker and patissier at college in Pantin, France. He is the owner of a bakerie, "the grenier à pain," 38 rue des Abbesses 75018 in Paris.
"I am an artisan, I've learnt a lot and I am methodic and self critical. It is all a question of respect of people and work." He has vague memories of Senegal, of vaste expanses. He says, "sooner or later, I''ll go back. I am100% French and 100% Senegalise and these are two parts of myself that I can't separate."
