Biography :

Dr Kadi Sesay is a Sierra Leonean feminist, politician is the former Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr. Kadi Sesay, who is the current founder and Managing Director of Leone Consulting & Advisory Services – for Trade, Investment and Development. She is the mother of CNN International news anchor Isha Sesay.

Dr. Kadi Sesay graduated from Fourah Bay College in 1973 with BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature. In 1974, she graduated with MA in African Literature at the University of Sheffield, England. With penchant for more qualifications, Dr. Kadi Sesay proceeded to the University of London Institute of Education in 1982 where she was awarded a doctorate degree in the teaching of English as a foreign language.

During her twenty years at Fourah Bay College, she taught English Language, African Literature and Allied Linguistics. Dr. Kadi Sesay rose to the position of Senior Lecturer and Head of the English Department. She was also the Head of the Foundation Course Programme and produced learning and teaching materials for the programme. The dutiful woman was Warden of female students for several years.

In 2002, Dr. Kadi Sesay won the ‘Sierra Leone Minister of the Year Award’ in recognition of her exemplary performance in the Ministry of Development and Economic Planning. The following year, the doyen of education also won the ‘Sierra Leone Women of Excellence Award’ for Female Personality of the Year.
