Djibril Yipènè Bassolé (B. November 30, 1957), is a Burkinabé diplomat, he was foreign minister and minister for regional cooperation in Burkina Faso from June 2007 to September 2008. In August 2008 he was invited to become the joint coordinator and mediator of the UN-AU (United Nations - African Union) on the Darfour situation. As special representative of the General Secretary of the United Nations, Djibrill Bassole tried to use straight talk to sort out the problems, his methods have been successful in the various situations where he has previously tried out his methods.
From 2000 - 2007 he was minister of Security and played an important role in getting agreement on the Ouagadougou agreement which was signed in 2007 by President Laurent Gbagbo of the Ivory Coast and Guillaume Soro leader of the New Force. From 1994 - 1995 he was the mediator in the resolution of the conflict involving the Touregs in Niger. He was also a member of the Internation supervisory committee for the supervision of the elections in Togo in 1993 - 1994.
