Biography :

Reeva Steenkamp born (August 19, 1983, died February 14, 2013), was a South African Model and actress.

Reeva Steenkamp was looking forward to Valentine's Day.
"What do you have up your sleeve for your love tomorrow?" the 29-year-old asked her thousands of followers on Twitter a day before. "Get excited."
Steenkamp was killed early Thursday in a shooting at the Pretoria home of Olympian Oscar Pistorius, her boyfriend.He has been charged with murder.Pistorius, nicknamed the "Blade Runner," made history when he became the first Paralympian to compete in the able-bodied Olympics in 2012. He ran on special carbon fiber blades affixed to his legs, which were amputated below the knees as a toddler because of a bone defect. Oscar Pistorius has been arrested after Reeva Steenkamp was declared dead at the scene with bullet wounds to her head and upper body.

Reeva Steenkamp was cremated at a poignant, emotional private ceremony in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on Tuesday February 19. Meanwhile, Pistorius' defense lawyer, Barry Roux, refuted the prosecution's premeditated murder charge during a bail application hearing in Pretoria, saying the incident was an accidental shooting.


Steenkamp was born in Cape Town, South Africa and moved to Port Elizabeth as a child.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2005.

Aside from modeling, Steenkamp was passionate about cars and cooking and she had some acting projects in the works at the time of her death, including “smaller TV roles as well as a lead in a new reality TV show.”

She was also a national celebrity and contestant on a reality TV show, Tropika Island of Treasure 5, which was due to be aired for the first time February 17.

Her father, Barry Steenkamp, was a famous horse trainer connected to the well-known South African trainers the Amos brothers. She went on to graduate with a degree in law and moved to Johannesburg six years ago, after she signed a deal with Avon. The model’s publicist described her to Sky News as “the sweetest human being,” and “a talented and bright young girl.” She also said that the couple had a “healthy, fabulous relationship.”


Steenkamp also used her Twitter account to speak out against rape and violence against women.

I woke up in a happy safe home this morning,” she posted on Feb. 9. “Not everyone did. Speak out against the rape of individuals…”
